| RCIA is a process (introduced as a result of the Second Vatican Council) in which adults go through a series of instructions that last several months, to become a member of the Roman Catholic Faith. It is not unusual for parents and children to become Catholics at the same time. On Easter Vigil, (Holy Saturday) the candidates, or catechumens, will be baptized (if they have not been baptized into another faith previously), receive the Eucharist and finally the sacrament of Confirmation. This is a momentous milestone in a family, so, of course there is commonly a celebration either after the ceremony or on Easter Sunday. This a perfect time to give a crucifix, rosary, photo frame or other Catholic items on this special day. |
