Irresistible Irish Presents For Irish Princesses

Hi! My name is Amanda, and I just wanted to take some time out of my day to let you know how pleased I am with your website and the products you carry! It just so happens that I have a friend’s daughter who is going to make her First Communion next week. As a person of the Catholic faith, I understand just how special and important of a moment this is!

I remember my First Communion like it just happened yesterday and that was twenty years ago! The white communion dress with the lace and bows, the white veil in my hair, white lace gloves and tights, and best of all, a silver sparkling necklace with a cross, made me feel like a princess on that day! So when I heard that my friend’s daughter was making her First Communion, I wanted for her to feel the exact same way!

Celtic Sterling Girls Cross Necklace

Celtic Sterling Girls Cross Necklace

Browsing through My Special Place.com, I came across your Irish Communion products. Since my friend is Irish and even was born on Saint Patrick’s Day, she is a huge fan of anything that relates to being Irish. So, as I came across the Celtic Sterling Girls Cross Necklace, I knew that she and her daughter would love it! I adore the fact that this necklace can be worn year round and with any clothing attire!

The other gift that I had to get her for her special day was a bible. I remember and still have the first children’s bible that I received on my First Communion. It is something that is very special and meaningful to me! So when I saw the Shamrock Catholic Communion Keepsake Bible, I thought it was absolutely adorable with the little green shamrock in the center of the front cover and could not resist it! I know that my friend and her daughter will appreciate the Irish touch to the gifts! After all, they both are Irish princesses!

How A White Suite Can Teach A Young Boy Responsibility

When most people think of a First Communion, they picture a young girl wearing a fancy white dress accompanied with a veil for her hair. However, a Communion is also a special moment for a young boy. My son, Owen, will be making his First Communion and he is extremely excited once he heard that he had the choice to wear an all white suit. As a mother to a little boy that always manages to somehow get a stain here, there and everywhere, I did hesitate at the thought of this. However, how many opportunities is he going to get?

So I talked with Owen, about how he is to treat an all white suit and what an important opportunity this is to show some responsibility. You see, my son has also mentioned how much he wants a dog. This allowed me the perfect opportunity to help make him realize just how big of a responsibility a dog can be. Therefore, I told him that an all white suit (like a dog) is something that is very special and will require much care. If Owen can use his judgment to treat this particular suit with the best of care (as a person would that is caring for a pet), then we can discuss getting a dog after his Communion.

David Boy's White Suit

Obviously, Owen was now more determined than ever to find a white suit and to prove to me just how good he could treat the suit. So we searched stores and could not find anything without it being ridiculously expensive. Next, Owen and I decided to look online. That is when we came across, My Special Place.com.

We looked under the title of Boy’s Suits and found the David Boy’s White Suit. It is just what Owen and I were looking for! It is an all white, five-piece, machine washable, suit! Not to mention I could not beat the affordable price! This suit is absolutely perfect!

After I saw this suit, I knew Owen would look dashingly handsome and this was the suit for us! Not to mention, knowing how determined of a boy Owen can be, I have a strong feeling that he is going to prove me wrong! I have a feeling that Owen will be a new proud owner of a dog within the next few weeks! Little does he know, that my husband and I are planning on getting him a puppy as a Communion present anyways!

Accessories Can Complete The Look Of A Communion Dress

STEPHANIE First Communion Dress

Stephanie First Communion Dress

To make a First Communion is a monumental moment in a Catholic’s life and one that is to be celebrated! Typically, most First Communions occur when a child is about eight years of age. This is the same age as my niece, Sierra, who is anticipating the arrival of her First Communion.

Since I have three boys, I figure the closest I am going to get to have a daughter of my own that I can do girly things with is going to be my niece. Also, I know how much of a budget my sister is on and so for Sierra’s communion gift, I asked if I could purchase her First Communion dress. However, my sister had already purchased the dress through My Special Place.com. She did mention though that she had yet to purchase any accessories, and would let me do that if I still wished to do so. Since I do not have many opportunities to buy girl clothing, I could not pass this up!

I decided to go and check out the dress that had been bought for Sierra from My Special Place.com. It was called the Stephanie First Communion Dress and it was gorgeous! It was simple, elegant, and classic with a white bow that was tied perfectly around the waist in the front.

I knew that Sierra was going to look like a sweet and innocent princess with it on. As I looked and studied the details of the dress, I could not contain myself when it came to pulling the whole look together through the use of various accessories. You name it and I looked at it: socks, purses, gloves, veils, jewelry, etc.

Finally, I decided that the Girls Bow Communion Gloves would help to bring attention to the bow on the dress.

Another perfect compliment to the bow on the dress is the precious Headband Bow First Communion Veil! Last but not least, was the Girl’s Communion Charm Bracelet. This particular bracelet is not only a great reminder of her First Communion, but can also act as a daily reminder of her faith and devotion to God! Now all I have to do is try to patiently await the day of Sierra’s First Communion, so I can surprise her with all of these beautiful accessories!

Do Not Forget To Thank Your Child’s Catechism Teacher

When a young Catholic boy or girl makes their First Communion, it is not just a special moment for the child but it is a very proud and rewarding moment for their catechism teacher, as well!

Normally, it is their second grade catechism teacher who spends months preparing a child for their First Communion. When a child makes their Holy Communion, it means that they are going to receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist. The Eucharist (the body and blood of Jesus Christ) is represented by bread and wine, and it is blessed by the priest and shared amongst the congregation. Thus, it is the catechism teacher’s job to help guide the baptized child through the process.

The teacher must help the child to learn and understand the several prayers in which they are to recite immediately upon exiting the confessional during their first confession (also known as the Sacrament of Penance). The Sacrament of Penance takes place about a week before their First Communion. Also, the teacher becomes responsible for making sure that the child understands the actions and prayers that they will need to perform during their First Communion mass.

Soon my son, Owen, will be making his First Communion. As a person of Catholic faith I am very excited for him. Also Owen’s Holy Communion has a special meaning to my mother-in-law. For years she has been teaching second grade catechism, as well as, helping her students understand the communion process. Since Owen is in her catechism class, I feel so fortunate that it is my mother-in-law who will be the one guiding him during this monumental Catholic moment. Therefore, I also knew I wanted to get her a meaningful thank-you gift for all of her hard work and dedication!

As I was browsing various websites, I came across My Special Place and found the perfect gift! My mother-in-law is a huge collector of angels. She has all kinds of collectible angels that arrange anywhere from wood and ceramic to glass. So when I found the Foundations January Birthstone Angel Figurine, I knew she would cherish it! This angel figurine is gorgeous! It has her January birthstone which is a garnet. The saying that is written on the dress is that, “God Smiled the Day You Were Born”. It is so true!

Overall, I am very blessed to have my mother-in-law not only in my life, but as a part of Owen’s! She truly is a wonderful human being that not only cherishes Owen but also loves to volunteer her time to educate other young children about the word of God! My mother-in-law is a valuable member of our Catholic community and I would like to reward her for all of her hard work, time and dedication to educating our young children! What better way to do this, than with a thank-you gift!

A Communion Suit Versatile Enough for a Tight Budget

I have a son who will be making his first communion very soon. I happened to be browsing your website when I saw a John Boy’s Charcoal Grey Suit. I knew that this was the suit I wanted to buy for my son, Noah. In our tough and sometimes unexpected economic times, I wanted to get Noah a suit that he would be able to wear on multiple occasions without breaking the bank. In the words of my father, he would refer to this situation as “more bang for the buck!”

Also, as a mother who knows what kind of messes her son can get into, I was very nervous at the idea of purchasing a white suit (although I do adore the look)! However, I knew that I did not want your typical black or navy blue suit either. So I was hoping to find a suit that was a little bit different in color but at the same time, could still be seen as classic and traditional. The John Boy’s Charcoal Grey suit was exactly what I wanted!

This particular suit was a mother’s dream because it was full of benefits! First of all, it was extremely affordable! Since my husband and I (like many other families) are on a tight budget right now, we have to factor in the cost of such items that we normally do not expect to buy.

Second, upon reading the description of the suit, I thought it was very informative about how versatile this suit is! I love the fact that just because a person purchases a five-piece suit, it does not mean they are required to wear all the items together every single time. Lastly, and the absolute number one reason to purchase the suit (and the only reason a mother could truly appreciate), is this suit is machine washable!

Therefore, I just wanted to say how happy I was that I came across this website! The information on all of the products was very helpful in guiding me to pick the right communion suit for Noah’s big day!

Communion Dress: Exciting memories with my daughter

I will never forget the day we bought my daughters First Communion dress! The dress was absolutely beautiful. I got her dress at online at myspecialplace.com for $59.95 but on other websites it was $185.00!  The year prior to Abbigail’s first communion my younger sister got married while we were out shopping for the flower girl dress we bribed Abbi to try on this dress at the bridal shop.

It looked almost like a flower girl dress! Abbigail looked like an angel in that dress and it never left my mind. I couldn’t find the dress anywhere else, until I came across myspecialplace.com. There it was! We ordered it early before communion day–and it fit her perfectly!

The accessories just topped it off perfectly! She chose the most adorable communion veil and I picked out communion gloves with roses on them (“Rose” being her middle name and all).

We were so excited and my husband thought we were crazy. But the grin on her face and the sparkle in her eye told the tale that this was the dress! She was daddy’s little princess! On that exciting day, it was all well worth it!

First Communion Memories: Sharing My Faith with My Two Kids

I love sharing stories of my Children! I have two children, one boy who is 13 and my daughter who is 11. Both of my children have different personalities from each other yet I can remember each of their First Communions like it was yesterday.

My son was so nervous and had so many questions about making his First Holy Communion. One of his biggest fears was dropping the host and God being mad at him. I told him not to worry he would do fine and that accidents happen and that God could never be mad at him. On top of him having anxiety, he did not want to wear dress clothes–he wanted to wear a white t-shirt and a pair of jeans. I looked hard to find a comfortable boys suit for him. We ended up finding the perfect suit – one that he felt comfortable in it and I thought he looked absolutely handsome in. The day had finally come for his First Communion. He was both nervous yet excited at the same time. As soon as he put on his special suit, he saw how great he looked in the mirror, his confidence went up and I could see the anxiety fading from his face. After a few snapshots with the camera before we headed off to church, he was feeling good about himself and excited about making his First Holy Communion. Following the Communion ceremony, we had a gathering of family and friends. That day turned out to be a wonderful experience with wonderful memories that will last a lifetime for our family.

When my daughter made her Communion it was so very different! With her, she is very outgoing and it was all about the dress. We started looking the summer before her Holy Communion ceremony. We found her communion dress online while looking for her flower girl dress for her Aunt’s wedding. It was a bit more than she was expecting, but gorgeous and she looked like an angel in it. She never wanted to take it off!

At her celebration she was delighted to get communion gifts and cards and wanted to know why people gave presents to her for making a Sacrament. Her favorite gift was one she got from her godmother, my sister, it was our grandmother’s rosary and she still thinks it is the most beautiful thing she has ever seen.

We still belong to the same church that my entire family all made our sacraments at and that means a lot to me. I am so happy that I can carry on the same faith and family traditions that I grew up with and now my children are following those same traditions at the same church.

How Communion has Changed: A 50 year perspective

Kids are notorious for asking questions. But according to my grandmother, it’s more recent that they started questioning religious teachings.

My grandmother has had the opportunity of watching her children teach their children about many different Catholic beliefs. One of her favorites has always been the sacrament of First Communion. The children are at an age where they’re still learning about the world and how God plays a role in shaping who they are as people.

When my grandmother made her First Holy Communion, it followed a class prepared by nuns. Years later, though not a nun, she taught the same class. It was then that my grandmother says she learned the core values of her Catholic religious beliefs.

Similarly today members of the church teach First Communion classes. The biggest difference, my grandmother says, is the kids. Unlike when she was in Communion classes, kids today are more inquisitive about Catholicism. They want to know why and how; whereas, according to my grandmother, children during her day indiscriminately accepted the teachings of the nuns.

Though she says some questions can only be resolved with faith, my grandmother feels the answers to many of these questions lie in the religious teachings themselves. First Communion prayer books are a traditional part of receiving this sacrament – helping guide the child through the mass and their Catholic prayers (Our Father, Hail Mary, the Stations of the Cross and other prayers and devotions).

As she discusses Holy Communion with my young cousin, who is about to take that very same step, her faith shines and has a comforting effect. Throughout the years of a changing society, faith is the common quality that will forever remain the same.

Preparing Your Son for His First Holy Communion

After weeks of classes the day for your son’s First Communion is drawing near and there is plenty of planning to be done. It is probably best to make a list and stay organized. As a parent it’s important to include both godparents in as many stages of your son’s religious development as possible. This means including godparents on many decisions. A great place to include the godparents in planning the details of the First Communion. Allow godparents to choose accessories or a practical suit for your son.

A good suit for a young man can be just as important and useful as a school uniform. MySpecialPlace.com has several complete affordable 5 piece suits. A white suite can be appropriate for this occasion; likewise, a traditional black or navy suit can be used for weddings, dinners and other formal events.

I have found that many families start the big day at the family’s house. From there they will generally carpool to the church. This allows time for the godparents to calm an apprehensive young man or just lend additional support to the family. After the Holy Communion, a pleasant celebration of food and family takes place, recounting the highlights of this event or taking a peek at some digital pictures before having them developed. This is also an excellent time for Communion gifts to be given, as reminders of this special day and their religious beliefs.

After the meal, guests can meet in the comfort of the family’s home to congratulate and celebrate. This is usually a great time to relax and reflect on what this means to the family and to the individual.
